Cody Tracy is originally from a small labor town in West Central Illinois where he was raised by a multi-generational Iron Worker & Yugoslavian immigrant family. He graduated from Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2017 with an A.S. in Mass Communications & Media Arts. Cody then transferred to Knox College in his hometown of Galesburg, Illinois where he received his BFA in Creative Writing in 2019. He received his MFA in Interdisciplinary Media Arts & Mass Communications in 2022 from Southern Illinois University. Cody’s work focuses on labor, death, the working class, found family photos, and the past. He uses Cyanotype, Cinema, Poetry, Documentary, Essays, Essay Films, Performance, and more to create his narratives. His work has been seen in Aeneonian Magazine, Protean Magazine, Catch Magazine, and exhibited throughout the midwest. His audio narrative work has been showcased with Wave Farm, an international radio program. Cody ran a panel for Global Fusion 2020. He is the winner of the Davenport Prize in Nonfiction of 2018. Cody has had many occupations throughout his life from pizza delivery, to paralegal, instructor of cinema, High School English teacher and currently the Performing Arts Director at Artspace 304 in Carbondale, Illinois.
